Torsten Reil

Torsten Reil is the co-founder and co-CEO of Helsing, a global defence technology company founded in 2021.

Originally a biologist, Torsten was the founder of the UK gaming and animation technology startup NaturalMotion (an Oxford University spin-out), which was acquired by Zynga in 2014.

Torsten is an active angel investor in the deep tech, AI, and biotech sectors. He has been recognised as one of MIT’s Top 100 Innovators and has spoken at TED and TED Global.

He holds a BA in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford, a Master's in Artificial Intelligence, and pursued a PhD at Oxford as a Guy Newton Scholar. In 2016, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science by the University of Sussex for his contributions to the UK tech sector.
