Bruno Le Maire

Bruno Le Maire is Special Advisor to ASML’s Executive Board. He served as France's Minister for the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty from 2017 to 2024.

Over seven years leading France's economic policy, he managed the country's response to the COVID-19 crisis and the energy shock that followed, oversaw France's recovery plan, and represented France in negotiations on the €750 billion NextGenerationEU recovery fund and the reform of EU fiscal rules.

Before leading the Ministry of the Economy, Le Maire served as Minister of State for European Affairs and as Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, Rural Affairs and Spatial Planning. He was elected to the French National Assembly in 2007.

Le Maire began his career as a diplomat. In 2002, he was appointed Foreign Affairs Adviser to Dominique de Villepin, then Minister of Foreign Affairs, and later served as Chief of Staff for Prime Minister de Villepin.

Le Maire is a graduate of the École normale supérieure, Sciences Po Paris, and the École nationale d'administration (ENA). He also holds an agrégation in modern literature.
