Benoît Cœuré

Benoît Cœuré is President of the Autorité de la concurrence, France's competition authority. Since January 2025, he has been Chairman of the OECD Competition Committee.

He was a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank from 2012 to 2019, in charge of market operations, international and European relations, and payments oversight. He was the first Head of the Bank for International Settlements' Innovation Hub in 2020–2021, and chaired the BIS Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures for six years.

Before joining the ECB, Cœuré held several positions at the French Treasury. He served as Chief Executive of Agence France Trésor, the French debt management office, then as Assistant Secretary for Multilateral Affairs, Trade and Development and Co-Chair of the Paris Club. From 2009 to 2011, he was Deputy Director General and Chief Economist of the French Treasury.

Cœuré is a graduate of the École Polytechnique and the ENSAE. He also holds a degree in Japanese.
