
Andrea Pignataro
Andrea Pignataro is the founder and CEO of ION Group, a financial technology and data company with over 13,000 employees across more than 50 offices worldwide developing critical software for banks, asset managers, and corporations.
Holding an Economics degree from the University of Bologna, a Mathematics PhD from Imperial College London, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from Bocconi University, Pignataro began his career as a Salomon Brothers bond trader in 1994. There, he led a software joint venture that became the precursor to ION, which he established independently in 1999.
Through the ION Foundation, Pignataro funds management science research at Bocconi University, the University of Utah, and HEC Paris. He also mentors at the Creative Destruction Lab.
